Sentimental Ol' You

Those of you who grew up with your parents or older sibs listening to WBCS out of Chicago, please raise your hands. Not many, not many.

For those of you who didn't raise your hands...WBCS was (or is it still?) a country station waaaaaaay back in the 70's (yes, we had flush toilets AND color TVs, but just barely). In light of the applications come forward for our Jack, I'm kind of feeling, well, you know...sentimental. And the title of this song came into my head. sniff. No, no crying yet but soon I'm sure.

Yesterday afternoon a very nice lady called to say that she and her husband were interested in meeting Jack. (If you are the nice lady and you're reading this you might want to turn away from your screen and scroll down here.) I almost said NO. EEK. I'm pretty sure on the inside I did. I am soo excited for Jack to have a home. He'll always have a home here if...whatever...happens.

So I'm kind of feeling a little sentimental about ol' Alabama Jack. Happy, sad, happy. He is our First Foster Dog and sooner or later he's supposed to have a new home. It's been about seven weeks - really, it has. We're just getting warmed up.

This morning I was cleaning the kitchen from the New Year's Eve adventure - I was a little too sleepy to do it yesterday - and of course had the radio blaring - still didn't wake the kiddies tho and this song comes on. We're going to go to warp speed from the 1983 into the late 90's here - hang on...

Here is the You-Tube Vid - Ok but before you click on it, know this, it is the video they recorded on the USS Washington when playing a concert to our soldiers. So if you have a soft-spot in your heart for soldiers hugging their pregnant wives and tiny children and everybody crying and waving little American Flags, you might not want to watch it.

Three Doors Down - Love Me When I'm Gone Deployment
So the lyrics go - Hold me when I'm Here, Right me when I'm Wrong, Hold me when I'm Scared and Love me when I'm Gone...
Ok, so maybe giving a dog to his furever family isn't nearly as heart wrenching as giving your Significant Other, Parent, Child, Friend to the US Military to go fight a war. I know. But the song came on the radio and it put it all into perspective. I've definitely righted him when he was wrong and held him when he was scared so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to Love him when he's Gone.
I'm also not so secretly hoping that whoever Jack's forever family might be stays in contact with us and we get to see some pics of him enjoying his new life! (Please).
That's my story today.

You are a softie~which is good! You'll miss him but wait till another furry little face greets you, you won't forget Jack, but just move him over in your heart a little.

Do I see a big "C" in the night sky?
