Fuzz-Trooper has had his two Heartworm Treatment shots.
Thirty days from yesterday, he will be a free dog.
However, we still have the next couple of days to work with. Right now, Wilma-Karmajane and Te'a are laying on the couch. Mocha is on the pile of blankets in front of the Christmas Tree and Lucky Coal is laying on the pile of blankets next to me. They've had an exhaustive morning chasing through the house, running around outside and playing like maniacs.
Wait, where's Fuzz-Trooper. He's laying at the other end of the house. Stretched out on the cold, hard laminate floor. He lifts his head and gives a half-hearted thump of his big ol' Labbie tail, but there's someplace he'd rather be. He's wanted to go "home" since he's arrived. He wants to go back to Mississippi to his family who dumped in the country. Probably because he was sick.
Now he wants to go home even more because he doesn't know what in the world happened to him and he's longing for the familiar.
I've already put away the soap box so I won't go into detail again about how you should be more diligent in giving your dogs heartworm pills. If you dont feel a twinge of guilt about it by now, you're not going to. If you want further inspiration to get yourself to the vet and pick up those once monthly chewables, stop here at The Lodge first and meet Fuzz Trooper. He's always happy to meet people. Loves everyone. But today he's just hanging his head and standing still so it doesn't hurt quite so bad.
So, that's it, a lot of folks are asking how he's doing and quite honestly, he's worse today. Tomorrow will probably be even worse as injuries are worse two days after as opposed to one.
Only got 29 days 'til he can run again.
Best Wishes.
