Weekly News

Hello Fluffy Fans (Hi to Carlos' Furever Family - I'm sure you're out there, somewhere) -

Just wanted to give you all some good news about The Pack here at The Lodge.  Sid-Riley's Mom Cheryl called me yesterday to update me (and you) on how well our boy is adjusting to his life outside of Grade Lodge.

He's doing great. He and his new sister are getting along great.  His mom said that he is the sweetest little thing but he's rather stubborn.  They're working on getting him to learn his new name and having him come when he is called.  Apparently, he's being kind of a stinker about not coming to the door to come in when he is supposed to.  She's working with him with a clicker and treat system and that seems to be working for him.

Sid-Riley's Mom Tracy has posted bunches of great pictures of him on the internet playing with his sister, Echo, falling asleep in his food bowl and just looking sweet.

Things around here are really settling down.  Who knew that young pup could cause so much chaos??  Carlos is really shaping up to being a nice little pack addition.  His little stubbie tail wags so much now.  He's been staying in the yard which is really a bonus.  He also has been really really good about leaving the cats alone.  So much so that Hawk has taken to antagonizing Carlos as Carlos walks by.  Sort of a Ninja cat move where he rolls, hisses and swats at Cartlos and then streaks off to another room.

Carlos just looks at me like, "What?  What did I do?"

Payback is a you-know-what my small friend.

Yesterday after the rain stopped we completed an Oconomowoc favorite and walked around Fowler Lake.  He's a bit of a "puller" on the leash so I think I'll try the harness when we walk next time. He is however a "man-of-action".  Doesn't go for that standin' around talkin' to the folks nonsense when we go to the dog park.  Gotta keep walkin'.  Got stuff to smell.  Got stuff to pee on.

Was good to get out and stretch a bit and get a nice long walk in.  Hard to walk four dogs; easier to take them all to the the dog park.

I decided last night that I'll enjoy taking him camping with us.  I think he'll have a good time out in the woods.  Hopefully by that time, we'll really have that running away thing under control. Maybe by that time, he'll be at his furever family's house  If not, that's ok, I'll hang onto him til then.

Right now, I'm just content to watch Te'a antagonize him and try to get him to play.  I don't think he's buyin'.  He wants to go for a walk.

PS - Just got back from a walk with my now mini pack.  Had to to tell you that as soon as Carlos saw the harness he was all about it.  He knew what it was and what it meant.  He also pulls like a crazy little man.  I'm tempted to go to Vinney's and find a little cart or wagon and hook it up behind him.  Maybe we could give rides to the cats, or the neighbor's kid's guinea pigs, or something...  At any rate, he loves to go on walks.  He's now crashed on the back of the couch taking a little puppy siesta.  Aaah, life at The Lodge is gooood.
