Ok, I'll give the credit of Axel's healed "ankles" to the antibiotics that he's been getting. His hocks are very nearly healed and we've been without the bandages for two days. I still keep him in the cone at night, to slow down the licking but otherwise, he's looking like a pretty normal little guy.
He is the sweetest little doggie. He's very cuddly and he loves the kids. He loves Scott and likes to sit in his lap. It's ok because he's not too big - Just about 40 pounds or so but we're working on putting just a little more meat on his bones.
I think he's housetrained but he suffers from a bad case of "MINE". We're working on that but my walls are getting cleaned in the process.
He likes to go for walks and his nails are getting worn down much nicer than when he first came to us. Though it's kind of funny because he still walks like his nails are long. Maybe that's sad. He doesn't walk super great on the leash yet and tends to pull like he's in some sort of sled dog competition but we're working on that too.
We've been to the dog park twice and he does well but he likes to explore and meet new families and will follow them around. I've been keeping the long leash on him and holding it so I'm not chasing him all over the park.
He's starting to adapt to being in our family and gets lonely for us when we kennel him at night. We've taken to moving the kennel upstairs so we can all be together. Oh, and speaking of stairs, he's got that figured out as well. Up. Down. He's doing great in both directions. I think it was the cone that was inhibiting him.
Soon enough Fluffy Friends, I'll post some pictures of his healed "heels", til then, thanks for thinking rescue and reading all about our boy!
