While we wait for the results of our 11am blood draw, I am compelled to share with you some of the things we have learned about our pal Lonestar Chance.
1. He's having a hard time doin' the number 2 on the snow but that's coming along, mostly. Except for that one incident in the family room...on the rug.
2. He's getting better about walking on the leash - although, I can now reach the stuff on the tall shelf around my kitchen because he's pulled my arm out of the socket.
3. He's not a big fan of fireworks. Last night we watched Prince Caspian and at the end of the movie there were fireworks. You would think our house was under attack the way that little fluffy doggy took off.
4. He's quite good at "bustin' out of his crate". I woke up at 3:00 this morning to find Chance laying on the bed next to me. Hmmm, probably should be more careful when I put him in there.
5. He rides amazingly in the car. When we went for the blood draw this morning and he rode in the foot area in the front seat - you know, the floor - The only reason my dogs go there is to look for a french fry that somebody may have droppped six months ago.
6. He likes to herd the cats, and the shoes and boots, and the toys and anything else that may or may not fit in his mouth - like his food bowl.
7. He's not very good about sharing the dog food when it comes in the house in a big dog food bag. I thought he was going to eat Te'a when I brought in some dog food earlier today after purchasing it. Oddly enough however, when there are treats on the floor or they are getting their morning glucosamine, he's the perfect gentleman. Ok, gentleman may be a stretch but he doesn't carry on like he's going to eat anybody. And to avoid any unneccessary blood shed, we feed our dogs in the hallway and him in the kitchen.
8. He's so sweet, gentle and loving. One look into those ambery eyes and you just melt.
9. He loves the kids and us. He likes to help post the blog and will come and sit on my lap while I am typing. The other day I got a wet-willy for my efforts. Woo-woo!
10. When he plays he comes on a bit strong and Te'a is not quite sure what to do with that. Sometimes she puts up her hackles and bounds away - others, she'll give in and tease him. We'll get there - eventually. It's only been a week.
11. He's so sweet and gentle and loving. He loves to cuddle and he's like a big teddy bear!
12. He understands when he has done wrong and submits to whoever is "advising" him of his errors.
13. He's completely adorable and once we can go outside for more than 15 minutes without shaking our feet as we walk thru the snow, he'll get more exercise, especially after he gets the all clear from the doctor and he will be amazing!
14. He's not a big fan of the coin can (ooh, a little Dr. Suess for you there). We filled a soda can with pennies and when he jumps up and up and up, we give it a little up and down shake and he calms right
