So now we have these beautiful Fluffy Doggies living at our house until they find their permanent furever homes. Our first Fluffy Dog, Jack, wasn't super fluffy but he was more fluffy than a lab.
We now have this super-fluffy guy who is some mix of bearded collie and raw energy. I can't wait until it warms up and we can go to the dog park and turn him loose on a world where he can run within the safety of a huge fenced in area. Hopefully the warm up will coincide with his medical release saying that the heartworm buggies are all cleared up.
But in the meantime, I am taking our Fluffy Doggie Chance out for daily walks or he and my doggies will turn my house into some sort of nuclear test site looking area.
The only problem, which I mentioned in an earlier post is that the snow gets hung up between his toes and creates little snow balls which are quite painful. So I tossed the idea around at the office and Doc said, "How about some kid socks?"
So I tried it. This morning, while it was still -11 outside, Connor held Chance and I slipped the socks and rubberbands on his footies. He was a complete lamb. He just laid there and let us put the socks on him and then he just wandered around the house like he was wearing Fluffy Bunny Slippers. No biting, no shaking...just wandered around like, can we please go outside NOW.
All was going well until one the rubberbands broke and he lost the sock somewhere in the backyard.
Chance is such a good doggie. He's mellow, he's soooooooooo loving, and just wants to be loved. Well, that and chase my cats - It's the herder in him. Perhaps it might be best if he went home with someone who didn't have kitties. Kiddies are good tho.
So we've got the paws covered, how about the inside? Our director, Lori Marchek, in addition to running this fabulous rescue and saving doggies lives from all over the midwest, south and south west, works with pet owners and their doggies, Fluffy or Not, to heal their ills. Lori's mom operated a successful natural health business for over 40 years and Lori is applying what she learned with her mom to doggies. Her website has a wealth of information about everything from Crate Training to Heartworm Disease and just about everything in between. You can also check out highly nutritional foods for your dogs as well as treats, chewies and silly toys. Go to her website from here: http://www.fluffydog.net/ or later on after this post gets archived, go to my list of websites in the upper right hand corner, and click on "Keep Your Fluffy Dog Healthy".
The kids are home from school today and the noise level from downstairs is growing decibel by decibel. Be careful when you go outside with your Fluffy Dog or even your not so Fluffy Dog.
Thank you for reading. Thank you even more for passing this blog along to everyone you know who is a dog person - you know who they are.
