Lodge News

By now you're probably all curious about what's been happening here at The Lodge. First Murphi has an application and then she doesnt and then she does and then ... well, she doesnt. 

At this moment in time, she doesnt. For the two families who were interested in adopting her, the timing just wasnt right and they had to decline. That's ok. She's a great dog and we'll keep her until the right family comes along. 

Meanwhile, Lucky Jim has been with us over a year and continues to be a great member of our family. He listens, he doesnt run away, but is yard collar trained. He is completely housetrained and does not chase cats. He likes other dogs but gets a little nutty over larger & unneutered males. Just to let you know, those two factors are not exclusive. He needs daily exercise or he gets a little stir crazy. He does retrieve the tennis ball; however when we throw it with the flinger thing.

Murphi is a great dog as well. She is a little shy with new people and can be quite fearful. She is nervous with  men but in the three weeks she's been here, she's really warmed up well to my son and husband. She got a little edgy at the dog park this morning and "popped" my friend Amy in the leg - Again, I am so sorry about that Amy. Aside from her more nervous attributes, Murphi is a great dog. She is housetrained and she stays in the yard well without a leash. She does great in the house and has graduated to sleeping outside of the kennel as we coached her that chasing cats is bad. 

Finally, and you're going to have to move quickly if you want a piece of this pup. Miss Kippens just arrived on Sunday afternoon. I dont have any pictures yet but trust me. She is completely adorable. She is 11 weeks of fun and playful puppy nonsense. When she first arrived she was a little leary of the four big Labs/Lab Mixes here at The Lodge but has acclimated well with them. She's navigating the stairs and runs through the house like a maniac. She is, as long as you pay attention, house trained. However, when left to the care of our 12 and 15 year old children, she's not so much housetrained. Rrrr. She, like most puppies, loves everybody but can be a little nervous if you move too fast. I do have her in the crate while I am at work and also at bedtime. She settles in well and goes to sleep at bedtime. When I go to work... not so much. :(

Time go wash those rugs that puppy has told me need washing. Handy having a puppy around for things like that.
