So far - so good. Our pal Chancey Shandy has not had an accident in the house in over a week nor has he growled or carried on with our dogs in the least.
He is learning how to control his temper and manage his emotions. Last night he was sitting with his front paws on my lap and Mocha decided that she wanted to sit in my lap. Yes sportsfans, I have an 80 pound Chocolate Labrador Retreiver Lap Dog. It's warm in the winter!
Meanwhile Chance was already on my lap and his nose got severely out of joint when Mo climbed up on my lap. He got kind of pouty like, "Hey, I was here first."
He was very good and while he did NOT appreciate Mocha horning in, he shared his "mama time" like a good boy. Later after Mo jumped down, Chancey was right there and in my lap. Ahh, nothin' like a 60 pound Fluffy Lap Blanket.
He still needs a little more work with the leash thing but we do walk everyday. So if you aren't into walking every day, this is not the dog for you. But if you love to be out in in it, at a fast clip, download an application from the upper right hand corner of this blog 'cuz this dog's for you!
He also needs a little more lovin' on the grooming end of things. He's not a big fan of the brush. Especially if you try to brush his front legs.
He has been free, not crated, at night for about two weeks, three weeks (?) and he's doing great. Sometimes he sleeps in the computer room. Most often he sleeps in the bathroom on the rug. He'll cuddle with us for a while in bed but then get's too hot and heads for the cooler bathroom floor. He does, however, get crated during the day if noone is around. I can't even begin to imagine the carnage and destruction that I would be met with. He is a very smart dog with a little case of ADHD and will chew if his mind is not occupied!
Pencils seem to be his favorite but he is non-discriminatory. Although, he has yet to destroy any shoes. Drag them all over the house - Yes. Destroy - No.
And so sportsfans, thanks once again, as always, for reading. Thank you for thinking rescue. If you've had a chance to peruse the Fluffy Dog Rescue Dogs Available page, you'll see that there are several dogs available for fostering. Interested? Send Bridget an email and let her know!

Glad to hear our boy is doing welll- I knew he would with such a great family to help him wait for his furever family.
But a question, "Chancey Shandy's Banyan Tree"? Is that his full name right now? I'm still going to argue the 'tugboat' variation!
