Hi - It's me, Chance!

Well, it's been two weeks since I've arrived here at the Lodge. It sure hasn't been dull around here. I'm gettin' to learn their schedules - they're gettin' to know...um...mine.

If you are a long time follower of this blog you know that prior to yesterday I was available for adoption to families with another dog. I've done some things and I want everyone, especially Mocha, to know that I'm sorry about that.

See, I'm a dog who's been to the shelter, the pound, the BIG House. Before that... boy, do I have a story to tell you but all I can say is that I really didn't get a lot to eat before landing there, and I really like to eat. So when I see another dog hangin' round my food supply that is out in the garage, I just can't help myself and I get a little possessive. Nuts even. I thought I would have to pack my crate after what happened the other day. My foster mom is so crazy, she said that just because I have a little trouble expressing my anxiety over food is no reason to give up on me. She thinks I'm too good for that. Wow.

So she and my foster dad have taken steps to help me through the food situation that I am going thru right now. I think she said that what I do is called Resource Guarding - go ahead and google that when we're done here.

I'm a very sweet boy who loves my foster daddy and if he's not around, well... I guess my foster mom will do. She said she's starting to feel like chopped vegetables because dad is actually chopped liver - yum. Do you know that my foster dad is so tall that he can reach those twinkly lights in the sky and the big round one that comes around. He's so awesome.

Another thing I'm getting the hang of is doin' my business outside in the cold. Dang my feet and my stuff get darn cold when I'm out there. I was having a hard time taking care of my number twos out on the snow but Aunti Judy suggested that mom put down some hay so I could stand on it. Sure the yard looks like a deer park but I tell you what, I took care of business on the snow this morning. Everybody was really excited!!

The cold is really starting to get to everyone around here and they are acting out in different ways. Mom decided last night that my ears were still too shaggy and my face still needed thinning out. So, back to the kitchen floor we went. She trimmed my ears again and attempted to thin out my face, again. Ladies and Gentlemen, if you could please pray for warmer weather, I would sure appreciate it. Because if it stays this cold for much longer and mom can't take us out to walk, I'm gonna keep getting haircuts and I'm not sure I want to look like those smooth coated cousins of mine, the Labradors. (Mom says to hush up - she would rather have me smooth than have mats.) Besides, she says I am very handsome and I have gorgeous eyes. I don't know if you noticed, she changed my picture on the beginning of the blog. I'm not so much into pictures and here is the first one she took after my haircut last night. (Not to mention she was playing that awful 80's music while she did it. Give me some Toby Keith any day. Can I get a little George Straight or Garth Brooks over here, please?)

I also like to ride shotgun in the car. Mom is taking me everywhere. In this picture we are taking my girl to something called skool. She's gone for like three minutes and then she's home. Sounds like fun to me. My girl is on the left.

Here's a picture that Mom took just before lunch today. Dad said he was kind of nervous about having all the dogs together with treats in his hand. Mom said not to worry. I am a perfect gentleman when it comes to treats and kongs. We all get along and there is no quarreling at all. No growling, no showing of teeth or anything. It's just my bags of food that are kept in the garage that create the crazy situation. That's why we think that until I get this worked out, if a family wants to adopt me they cannot have another dog.

So here's me, Chance, doin' what I love best. Just layin' on my back thinkin' about warmer days.

Does the sun ever reach it's peak at this latitude?

Sir Chance you are SO handsome with your 'new doo'! What a cutie!~but don't tell anybody I'm flirting! And don't worry, you're not the only one with problems. Tonight I got out after supper with NO collar on and I took off for a romp around the neighborhood even though I'm not supposed to be running beucause of my stitches. Didn't listen to my Mom calling, or Dad driving around calling, or Granny calling-altho I knew she had treats so I eventually came home. So I've got some listening problems~but at least I made sure my Mom got enough walking in tonight to make up for all the ones we've missed!
