Well Fans...I continue to have good news about our Pal Chance. He has become assimilated into our pack so well. He has become a doggie in good standing - at least as far as I'm concerned.
First there have been no accidents in the house since a week ago Monday. So, for those of you keeping track, it's been almost two weeks! He also sits by the door when he NEEDS to go out and then he makes a beeline for his favorite buckthorn.
Second, I have NOT heard that awful sound in my house since a week ago Monday. It sounded a lot like: Growl snarl snap snap snap growl snarl snarl - I'm-gonna-eat-your-face. Peace is a wonderful sound!
Third: Chance has been sleeping "out of the box". No, he hasn't come up with any new ways of hanging from the ceiling in his crate. He is actually a free man at night. No accidents, nothing chewed. It's all bliss. Wednesday night he slept in the computer room. He is so sweet. He's got a teddy bear and a red blanket that he sleeps with. Last night he slept in the hall between our room and Kiera's room - so I had to move his blankie and his bear. Now the cat has claimed it. Can't have it all I guess!
Since it was finally warm enough to go out for a walk today without a hundred layers, we went back to Minooka Park. Chance does really well at the park and he's very social and very well behaved. I'm kind of glad he's still on the leash as I'm sure he would be all over that area and I would be merrily puffing along behind him in my big heavy boots trying to catch up.
Chance made a friend at the dog park today. Another boy dog, a Visla named Finnigan. Ol' Finn hadn't been um...fixed yet and he wanted to be better friends with Chance than Chance wanted to be with him. After a while, Chance decided he had enough and advised Finn that he really wasn't interested in playing leapfrog. No matter, they still wrestled without playing that particular game.
I took the camera along and shot some pictures for those of you who can't make it over to Minooka to give you a little view of the area. They are posted in here:
Here are a couple good ones that I had some fun with....
I had originally wanted Te'a and the ball but Mo jumped in at the last second. Timing is everything, I guess...
Most dogs chase other dogs who are actually carrying the tennis ball. Not so here at Grade Lodge. Our dogs chase other dogs with tennis balls in their mouths. Thankfully, Te'a has been to Secret Doggie Ops training class and has learned the very elusive "hover-dog" technique. Shhh, it's super secret.....
It was really hard to get a good face shot of Chance as I was holding his leash. I got A LOT of pictures of the "one eyed dog" but didn't think that you would appreciate that. But here is a clever one of me watching Mocha watching Chance watching a lady in a white jacket watching her Golden Retriever... (If you're playing "Where's Waldo" with the lady in the white jacket...she is just to the left of the pair of trees that are just to the right of Chance's right ear. Right? You can see it better if you go into the album and double click on the picture.)

Well, after all, it is called Fluffy Fostering...What would it be without one face shot - just the one tho.
After we left the dog park, I thought since it was still before the lunch hour (1136am) when we got back "into town", that we would be able to jump right in and get the car washed before the noontime madness started. Yeah, not so. I was like eighth in line. So much for that. So we waited in line for an hour to go thru the car wash.
I was going to video tape Chance's reaction to the car wash for you but..umm...yeah...NOT a big fan and he went hog wild. I would hazzard a guess to say he wasn't really a fan at all of the touchless carwash system. So if you're thinking of adopting this oh-so-wonderful (and one-of-a-kind) dog, leave him at home when you go thru the car wash.
Hey, go hug your kid. Go hug your dog! Hug everybody that you love! Tell them how much they mean to you. Send that e-mail that you've been meaning to send. I'm tellin' you friends, get it done!
