Another New Haircut??!

I know what you're thinking...enough is enough...let the poor guy grow out already.

This time had mostly, absolutely, nothing to do with me being bored.

I did think that his face needed to be thinned out a bit and even asked Kristin to come over and help me out with that but she took her daughter to Chicago to the American Girl store today.

Sigh.

Scott opened the door to the garage to look for Chancey Shandy's leash (which some child whose initials are Connor) left out there and the dog slipped out. Oh, it was a Merry chase thru Ruby's backyard, across the street and over by Kasey and Max. Thankfully our pal Chance stopped to pee and we caught him.

As we were walking back to the house, our neighbor Cindy, who hadn't met Chance yet stopped over to say hi. We were just standing around getting caught up - 'cuz everyone knows you don't see your neighbors in the winter unless you look like garbage and you have your arms full of groceries - and the other neighbor's dog wandered over to say hi.

And...this is a good thing...Donny and Chance seemed to like each other and wanted to play. Hooray!! Add another (fluffy) dog to the growing list of dogs that are Chance-approved!! As we were standing there, a car came flying down our street and we hustled to get Donny back into his own yard. Well, on the way back to our house, Chance was clever enough to have discovered a HUGE burdock bush.
Burdock, stick-tight - I don't know what you call 'em but when you have a Fluffy Doggie, they spell trouble!! Our labs have nice smooth coats that you can just sliiiiiiiiiide the burrs off. Not our Fluffy Dog. YIKES!
I probably should have taken a picture of how bad they were but he was so uncomfortable I didn't take the time. Scott worked on the ones on Chance's back, I worked on his face. Sadly there are some very "close-to-bare" spots because he ground the burrs into the fur when he slid across the new fallen snow on his head in an effort to rid himself of the miserable, offending travelers.
I had a hard time pulling the burrs out. They were very close to his eye and on his cheek and his ears were full of them!! Seriously...he looked like Grandpa Munster. His ears were so full that they stood out sideways. So I trimmed, and I trimmed and trimmed some more. Then when I was done, he needed to be fixed. But as you already know, I DON'T have a license to cut hair and I'm sure that any professional groomer person reading this would be horrified to see his pics but you do what you have to.
So, without further adieu....another new haircut...
So ya wanna see my new 'do', do ya?

Well, I'm not quite sure that I'm quite ready to share it with you...yet...

Well, maybe if you smile real nice for me and say PLEASE...

Ok...since you said please! Ta Da!

Honestly, I called Cindy and asked her to bring over more stickers so we could cut them out. I think this is probably his cutest cut yet. Combined with the fact that he and all of our neighborhood boy dogs are getting along so well and....the fact that he's learning to be good boy when there is food around make him the perfect pet.

So, if you are a family, a couple or even a single person looking for your perfect your dog, look no further because here he is, your new pal...Chance.

He doesn't shed, he's housetrained, he can be trusted to roam the house at night and he has a darn cute haircut that you can repeat every three or so months.

Thanks for considering rescue and thank you for reading his blog! Please pass this along to anyone else who love doggies too!!

Woof!
