We celebrated Christmas Day 2008 here at Grade Lodge with Scott's Family. His sister and her hubby and four boys, his brother and his wife and two sons and daughter, Scott's parents, Scott's cousin and her daughter and Scott's 90 year old Granny were here for food and fun. Needless to say there was a lot of chaos all day!The puppies, Te'a and Jack, spent the morning outside with our son, just to wear everybody out so they wouldn't be too crazy when company came. Boy, we were ever wrong.....all three dogs took turns at distracting the humans while they enjoyed the buffet lunch. Granny's cookies were huge hit!Despite the fact that we have zero history on Jack and things could have gone any direction at all with Jack's behavior, he had a really great day. He was, however, just as obnoxious as the big doggies about the food - but then who wouldn't be- meatballs, taco dip, veggie pizza, artichoke dip, COOKIES COOKIES AND MORE COOKIES. The age range of the kids that were here was 13 to 4 and he did great with everybody. He got a little nervous around Scott's brother and his brother-in-law who are both fairly big guys but as soon as one gave him a cookie, Jack was his best buddy. Even Scott's sister, who is NOT a dog fanatic like me, was falling in love with Jack. Don't worry if you were thinking of adopting him, she's not taking him home. She has three kitties at home; one of whom is named Sassy. She's one of those look-but-don't-touch kitties and she comes pretty well armed. MEEEE-OW!
Everyone was impressed with Jack's stellar cuteness and were all comparing him to famous movie star doggies - Sandy, from Annie fame, CHOMPS, from...um...CHOMPS, and Benji - the first Fluffy Dog to make it big. They commented on how, despite the madness and the number of people milling about, he was soooooo calm for such a young dog. We don't know how old Jack is but we will be celebrating his first birthday with Te'a's first birthday in January, unless Jack goes home with his furever family first (but of course Jack and his new family will be invited over for "cake").
At the end of the day, when all was quiet, everyone collapsed.
Usually Jack opens his eyes when I come round with the camera - I don't think his eyelids were even functioning at this point....
The kids are playing with a new marble rollercoaster that Santa brought. Te'a is in this picture. Can you find her?
Did you look closely on the couch? She's very sleepy too!
Santa also sent along a toy (via USPS) for the doggies that must have gotten left at the North Pole. Something new and fun called the Pet Qwerks Talking Babble Ball. When it is touched it says things like, "look alive big doggie", catcalls and growls. It scared the "living daylights" out of Te'a - here is Jack's reaction...
Santa also brought the doggies some bones to gnaw on while the rest of us opened Christmas presents.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas too! Please forward this blog onto others who may be looking for a Fluffy Dog of their own. I've put a link to the application in the upper right hand corner of this blog so that prospective families don't have to go searching for it.
Thank you for reading the blog and considering a rescued dog. There are sooo many wonderful dogs out there (and here :)) that need permanent homes. If you are intested in Jack, please send me a comment if you have further questions about him. I will try and answer via the telephone but please understand that like everybody else in this crazy economy, I work part-time and have two kids. So the best time for me to return a phone call may not be the best time for someone to receive a phone call.
Once again, Merry Christmas! Tomorrow we celebrate one more time and then we can begin planning the birthday party!!
