After a week at The Lodge ...

... the two new fosters have settled in well.

They have both mastered the stairs ... I guess they are (wait for it) stair masters.

They love to snuggle in the bed. Seymour Boris sleeps in his kennel but will snuggle after his first potties at 430a. Amelia will jump on the bed and then get off after about 10 minutes - I think she gets too hot.

Both appear to be housetrained - as long as you pay attention.

Both love the dog park. Amelia was not as Zoomie today as she was the first day. I guess running like a torpedo is boring now. They stay with me unless Denali has a ball and then its a big game of "chase Denali all over the dog park." Which is ok too because everybody is sacked out on the floor and couch right now.

Both get along well with everybody at the dog park. Both are understanding that "I have to get into the car, if I want to go to the dog park."  Understandably, we had a couple of concerned dogs earlier in the week. Everybody jumped right into today! Wahoo!

Having a little trouble with the feeding thing. It appears that Amelia is picky and wont eat dry dog food. I splash a little warm water and Viola! Hot Breakfast!

Both dogs could use a little work in the manners department. Its not an huge issue but both like to jump up. Hello? It's shorts weather. My legs look like I've been wrestling a pack of lions. Amelia came to us with some pretty wicked looking nails. They were all grown out and wonky looking. Yeah, wonky. Lisa Brewer, Tail Waggin Doggy Daycare, Hartland WI (262.369.8252) :)  - cut them for me the other day and they are better than they were but a Dremel tool is really what we need. Yikes. However, a walk or two a day around the neighborhood on the cement sidewalks would be good too.

Both Amelia and Seymour Boris  would be a good 'first time dog owner' dog. Very easy, very sweet. Seymour Boris would do better with a really active family. He's a young boy, he needs a little more energy release. Amelia would do well with an active family - we could all benefit from at least one walk a day. I could see her being a therapy dog. She has a very healing energy about her. However, if you arent a first time dog owner, these would be good dogs for you too!
