Another Lucky Post

Ok, hold on, I know what you're thinking. Really, two blog posts in as many days? What sort of chaos is going on over there at The Lodge?

I just had to tell you about Lucky Jimmy Dog's latest achievement.

First of all, he is house trained to the nth degree. We've had so many dogs through the doors here at The Lodge recently that werent housetrained and boy, is it nice. He dances by the door and springs around when he needs to go out and do his thing.

So fabulous.

He also sits nicely when you ask him to before you feed him. I had Connor "moat" Lucky Jimmy Dog's food before he fed him tonight. You flip the bowl over and pour warm water in the bowl. Then put the food on top of that and let it sit a bit. It takes a bit longer for them to chow through the ... er... chow.

But the big news is that Lucky Jimmy Dog knows how to use the electric underground fence. Ok, I hate to repeat myself but, boy, is that nice.  Scott found one at a local thrift store. It is a portable model with a 180 foot diameter playing area. Normally these retail for about $250 but he bought it for $12.99 plus he had a 20% off coupon. Talk about a deal!!

The best deal is that we knew Lucky Jimmy Dog had used one before and all he needed was a little refresher.  I put the collar on him and a long leash and out we went. I took him down the driveway and walked him slowly to the spot just before the buzz goes off and let him do the rest.

When he got "toned" before the zap he stopped.

And go.

I dropped the leash and watched him tear around the yard. He would go so far and come bounding back. After that I took the leash off and let him go. What a great moment for him to be able to run free like the maniac he is.

After all of his running around outside, he's a pretty civilized pup inside AND he's not wearing his fashionable pink shirt. I will put it on him before bed though, just to help him get to sleep.

Thats our big news. He's the perfect dog. He's special needs because of his Addisson's diagnosis and you'll want to talk to your vet about that BEFORE you put an application in for him. Review your budget and see if it can accomodate dog food, treats, toys and the usual medical stuff (heartworm, yearly visits, Frontline) and THEN add $ in for his monthly treatment and his daily predisone. He's such an amazing boy. I would hate to have him move in with someone then have him returned because of financial reasons.

Again, I'd rather be up front with you than have Lucky Jimmy Dog go through another heartache.

Thank You for Thinking Rescue. Thank You for Reading!
