Maybe you're the kind of person that needs something big to be impressed. Maybe you're like me and sometimes all it takes is oh, I don't know, a dog pottying and er...pooping to make you happy. How about a dog that has lived in your house for a week and now has found her smile and her wag? Would that make you happy? It all makes me happy!!
I've mentioned before how Barberry Hope seems to be part camel. She pees but once a day and she hasn't pooped since last Monday. Today at the dog park, she did both!! She also played with a bunch of other dogs, including a gorgeous Weim named Chase (Hi Deb!). Furever family, I want you to know that we've ... er... wrecked her for you. Scott put her on the bed yesterday and last night she decided that that would be a nice place for her to sleep. We allowed it until she growled at the cat, then she was ejected. No room for that kind of nonsense at The Lodge.
She is really finding herself and I think she is surprised at the freedom that all dogs should have. She gets to eat regular meals, drink from a bucket specifically for that purpose and she gets to go outside more than once a day. She has people who love her and scratch her neck (she looooves that) and rub her sides and belly. She's not sure she likes that yet but she hasn't bitten me so I guess that's good, right?
She's been wagging her tail more and more and smiling too. She and Wilma-Karmajane played a little at the park this morning but Wilma-Karmajane plays a bit rougher than Barberry-Hope is ready for so that doesn't last long.
Wilma-Karmajane is coming out more and more too. She's forgetting to be afraid and she's replacing that fear with curiousity. All she needs is a to be ignored. What?
You know how when you go toa party at somebody's house and they have a cat, there's always one or two people in the room who don't like cats or are allergic but the cat ALWAYS gravitates to them? Same with Wilma-Karmajane. If you want to pet her and make the "usual" come over here sounds, she's not going to. In fact, she'll probably just bark at you. But if you walk with me, and we chat a bit, she'll discover on her own that you're a good person and start to sniff you and you might get to pat her head.
Time and patience. Time and patience.
So, that part of the update complete. I've got some new pictures of Barberry Hope plus a little video!
