Not for the Faint of Heart or Lazy of Bones....

I took the doggies for a walk today. It's ok, I checked with our director. A walk is ok... it's the heart pounding runs that may do him in. Yeah, but its the heart pounding runs that he needs.

We came back from our walk and I sat down to finish the book I started a couple days ago. It was a little ditty about a lady who FINALLY meets her hero in the middle of the book. Talk about your slow starters. My dogs were fine. Everybody laid down in "their" spots except for our buddy Chance. No, he was on the counter, in the hole in the basement door checkin' for kitties, in the back hallway, p*s%ing on the fish tank cabinet. AAAAAAAAAAAAaaargh. Second time today on that if anybody is keeping track.

I decided that maybe he would lay down on the blanket I keep for the fosters in the family room. Um, no. He jumped up on the Lazy Boy with me. He was on my left and Te'a on my right. It was all very cozy and warm. They behaved until Te'a decided that she needed "mama-time" too. Chance was sooooooo not all about that. I saw the beginnings of a lip curl. Did I mention that both dogs were laying on my lap and that they were meeting noses just above my ah... left...my left...girl stuff? I grabbed Chance's lip and started to stroke Te'a's head telling everybody it would be ok.

Happy to report that there was no blood shed and all of my parts are still where they should be.

But I decided that this doggie needed to run. I know, takin' a BIG chance on a doggie that's not mine. But it was this or the crate and all he really needed to do was burn off some steam.

Down the driveway we flew. Whoops, probably should have shoveled because it was a little bit slippery in my Sorels. Yikes, look out Te'a. Bark Bark Growl Snarl. Ok, she's not gettin' it that we're only playing. We'll get there - eventually.

Into the front yard. Round and round we go. My neighbors must think I'm crazy. They already think I'm crazy - oh, well. Back up the driveway - Look OUT Te'a!

In the house, tug-o-war, ten minutes later he's finally worn out and I finally got to finish my book.

If we can just get thru the next three weeks and get him re-tested for heartworm and make sure all those nasty buggies are gone, we'll be ok. If it would only warm up and I could be outside for more than 40 minutes without freezing to death.

Alright, time to go, he's standing on the cat tree talking to the cats. We need to get it all dressed again and go outside. The mail is probably here anyway.

Stay Warm!

PS - Just got back from my third outing for the day and I remembered that I'd received an email from our director that we are in need of three foster homes. The dogs are Donner, a one year old 10# Cairn Terrier Mix - You've always loved The Wizard of Oz : FOSTER FOUND!! WHOOPEE!!

Fern - a six to seven year old Sheepdog Mix arriving on Friday - I think she's about 65# or more. FOSTER FOUND! WHOOPEE!!

And, Romeo is one of several animals that belonged to a WV resident who was recently killed in a tragic house fire. He is very friendly, and has some basic skills. He will walk on a leash, sit for milk bone and come to you when called. Romeo is not scheduled for transport until the 23rd so he may be adopted to his furever family before he even sets foot on our frozen tundra http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=12805292.

Send a little email to me if you are interested in helping out - iwannahelpdoggies@gmail.com - and we'll get you set up! Please remember to keep clicking the pet food website. I've also added a new blog today called Wet Pets. It's a collection of pics of wet, shampooed pets. Basically all of the kitties look like drowned rats. There are even some "rats" - ok ferrets, swimming around the bathtub.

Also, thanks to Kristin, we have a tool to use on the jumping problem. We have a soda can filled with pennies that we shake - just once - when Chance shows bad manners. Works like a dream.
